The California Sustainable Logistics Center of Excellence (CSL) is a pioneering initiative under IEEP,
committed to creating sustainable, high-quality jobs and addressing the evolving needs of the logistics
industry in the Inland Region. The CSL aims to secure pathways to economic mobility by growing
industry clusters and providing technical assistance to companies.
Position Overview:
The CSL Project Manager will lead and manage the California Sustainable Logistics Center of Excellence,
fostering partnerships, developing research agendas, and securing funding to drive the Center's mission.
This role requires a visionary leader who can build a collaborative ecosystem involving academia,
industry, community organizations, and government to promote sustainable logistics and economic
growth.
Please note that this is a grant-funded position, and future funding beyond the initial grant period will be
contingent upon securing additional grants and funding sources.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Partnership Management:
- Lead the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) process with research partners such as UC
Riverside, CSU San Bernardino, Chaffey College, and Georgia Tech.
- Establish and nurture relationships with industry leaders, government entities, and community
organizations.
2. Research and Innovation:
- Develop a comprehensive research agenda bridging academia and industry.
- Facilitate the creation and dissemination of impactful research in areas including logistics technology,
- supply chain management, smart mobility, cybersecurity, AI, and natural resource management.
3. Ecosystem Development:
- Create collaborative platforms for engagement among Community-Based Organizations (CBOs),
industry, academia, economic development, and education sectors.
- Foster a culture of innovation and commercialization through incubation and support of new
ventures.
4. Funding Development:
- Initiate and lead funding development activities for long-term sustainability.
- Secure federal, state, and private foundation support for the Center.
- Develop a diversified funding base to ensure enduring success.
5. Strategic Implementation:
- Assist in the strategy and implementation of state and federal engagement.
- Establish industry and government councils to support sector growth.
- Coordinate educational and career pathways across K-12, community colleges, and higher education.
Qualifications:
- Degree in Economics, Logistics, Public Policy, or related field.
- Experience in logistics, economic development, or related areas.
- Proven experience in managing partnerships, developing research agendas, and securing funding.
- Strong understanding of logistics, supply chain management, and sustainable economic development.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and collaboration skills.
